Areas of Focus
-
Childhood Trauma
Kirsten has a particular interest in working with adults who are seeking support around adaptations that originated from survival during developmental years. Kirsten specifically enjoys supporting those who struggle with attachment difficulties, parentification, enmeshment with family members, people-pleasing tendencies, shame, and suppressed emotions.
-
Grief Counseling & Caregiver Support
Kirsten has a wealth of experience supporting clients through medical decision-making, advocating for family members in healthcare settings, along with grief and loss counseling. Kirsten previously trained as a social work resident at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA working alongside Harvard Medical School affiliated staff and physicians. Kirsten also has prior experience facilitating an Infant Loss and Support Group for parents seeking counsel to cope through one of life’s most unexpected losses. She has a wealth of experience in facilitating family meetings within hospital settings to support patient and caregiver understanding of the hospitalization, along with support working through decision-making around interventions and end of life decisions. If you are feeling lost or misguided as you or a loved one navigate our nation’s complex healthcare system, I welcome the chance to see how I can best support and help advocate for you and your loved ones.
